If you have tried several different acne treatments and “cures” and nothing is working, you may be starting to become frustrated.

One of the newer and quickly increasing in popularity, treatments is acne laser surgery treatment.

Here is a look at the pros and cons of this procedure.

Acne laser surgery treatment is not something that should be undertaken lightly.
For one reason, it is one of the most expensive acne treatment that you can try.

On average, acne laser surgery treatment can cost you as much as $200 a session. And since most patients will need multiple sessions, the cost can quickly add up.

The discovery of acne laser surgery came about almost accidentally. It was discovered that lasers could not only help treat the uncomfortable scars left behind by acne, but could also limit bacterial growth and lessen the amount of sebaceous oil that is produced. This leads to fewer future acne breakouts.

Another term for acne laser surgery treatment is light amplification by the stimulated emission of radiation. Basically, the laser beam is used to seal, cut, and vaporize the tissue and blood vessels of the scar.

This allows there to be a reduction of the severity and visibility of the acne lesions, including older marks.

Despite this, you should not expect acne laser surgery treatment to be an instant, or even a fast, cure for your acne problems.

It does not always cure all of your acne breakouts, though it can help to improve the appearance of your skin and make breakouts less visible. It can also take a year or more in order for you to see the entire effect of the treatment.

If you choose to have acne laser treatments to treat your acne, you may have the choice of two different methods. One of the most commonly used forms is with ablative lasers that resurface the skin.

The laser heats up and eliminates the top layer of skin tissue by burning it away. This can be quite an effective way of reducing the appearances of scar tissue.

The other commonly used method of laser surgery treatment for acne uses a non-ablative or non-wounding laser. These are not as uncomfortable as the ablative laser surgery, and will often have fewer side effects.

The procedure for this type of laser acne is often much shorter, so some patients will choose to have it done during their lunch break or on their way home from work so that they do not have to interfere with the rest of your activities.

Your dermatologist will be able to help you to decide whether or not laser surgery treatment is the best course of action of treating your acne. In some cases, if your acne is mild, it may be better and less expensive for you to try traditional methods first.

However, if your acne condition does not improve with the use of traditional therapies, your dermatologist may recommend acne laser surgery as the next step in your treatment plan.

Acne can happen to people of all ages, not just teenagers, but both teenagers and adults. It does not matter what race you are or what gender – acne can happen to anyone.

Depending on the severity of the breakout, it can cause physical scarring and psychological effects to the people who suffer from it.

To those who have never faced a more than the occasional pimple, it may not seem like a big deal, but to those who deal with acne on a daily basis, it can seem like quite the crisis.

No matter how bad your individual case of acne is, you may want to consider having it checked out by your doctor or dermatologist. Left untreated, acne can lead to visible and unsightly scarring. It also can leave emotional scarring, as any teenager that has been labeled a “pizza face” can tell you.

Your doctor or dermatologist can help you figure out the best course of treatment for your individual case of acne.

If you are undecided about whether or not to see your doctor about your acne, there are some definite times when you should think about it.

If your acne condition has progressed to the point where you are embarrassed by it, or has left scarring on your face that makes you anxious about the way that you look, you may want to get it checked out.

If you feel that your self-esteem has lowered, or you are suffering from depression or other emotional stress from your acne, then it may be time to talk to your doctor.

If you have already tried several different over the counter remedies for acne and none have worked, then you may need a stronger, prescription medication for your acne.

If your acne pimples are causing scarring to your face or body it is time to get them looked at.

And, if your acne is painful when touched or washed, or you have repeated breakouts in the same area leading to inflammation or infection, it is time to see your doctor.

Depending on the progression of your acne and scarring, not all visible effects may be able to be treated, so the best thing to do is to get your acne looked at as soon as possible.

Your doctor will be able to advise you of the best way to erase or reduce scarring, treat current breakouts, and prevent future breakouts and scarring from occurring.

You should be able to call your insurance carrier to make sure that you are covered to visit a dermatologist, or find out what you need to do to get a referral. Once you have confirmed eligibility, you should make an appointment with a dermatologist to see what can be done.

He or she can give you medications, cleaners, or tips to help reduce and eliminate your acne breakouts and scarring.

Even if your acne is not severe, if it is interfering with your day to day activities it is in your best interest to get it looked at.

Acne is extremely treatable, so there is no reason to suffer from the emotional and physical effects.

If you have, or have had acne, you may be concerned about acne scarring.

Besides the annoying breakouts, the scarring left behind is one of the biggest concerns of both adults and teenagers suffering acne.

There are several types of acne scarring that can result in unsightly marks that can be difficult to get rid of that have been seen by medical professionals studying acne scarring.

Different types of scarring are the result of different types of acne conditions, and may need different types of treatment in order to reduce or eliminate their appearance.

Ice pick acne scarring causes the skin to look like it has been stabbed with an ice pick, resulting in large, deep, open-looking pores. If a pimple becomes inflamed or infected, or a cyst forms as a result of the acne, this type of scarring is often seen.

Acne pit scarring is also caused by pimples or cysts, but is more likely to be seen if these cysts or pimples are squeezed or otherwise destroyed. The resulting scar appears depressed and sunken, and may be a different color than the surrounding skin.

If several pimples or cysts occur in the same area or close together, you may see raised acne scarring. The scarring of the individual cysts causes the tissue around it to callous and become raised, creating a mass on the skin’s surface.

Since acne scarring can be such a physical effect, if you have acne you want to try to avoid it. Try to see your doctor or dermatologist when bad breakouts occur for treatment.

You should also avoid damaging the acne pimple by squeezing, picking, or pinching, since this can push the bacteria and infection deeper and make scars worse.

If you already have acne scarring, you may be able to reduce or even eliminate it.

There are some products such as peels and creams that you can purchase over the counter that are designed to soften scar tissue and improve the overall look of your skin.

For severe cases, you should see your dermatologist for treatment. You may need a prescription treatment, of something a little stronger.

Dermabrasions, collagen injections, and laser treatments have all been used successfully on acne damaged skin.

If you prefer to go the more natural route, there are some vitamins and minerals that you can take to try to fight acne scarring. Some treatments like vitamin C and E, as well as iron, have been shown to be effective.

Overall, the best treatment for acne scarring is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple change in your diet or face cleaning routine to get rid of acne. Other times, acne may be the cause of an underlying hormone imbalance.

If you get more than the occasional breakout, or see that your acne is starting to scar, see your dermatologist as soon as possible to determine the treatment that is best for you.
